The client already had a beautifully furnished home on the water located on the South Shore of Long Island. With three children, the homeowners were looking to create a dedicated space for the entire family to enjoy. More important was to build a room that would entice their teenage children to want to stay home and bring their friends to congregate rather than feel the need to leave home to have fun.

Enter Intech. the room also had to double as the main family TV room as well, since the entire family were movie enthusiasts. As a result, maximizing the number of theatre seats that would fill the room was paramount, as was the need to incorporate a Video Request so that up to 400 DVD Discs could be accessed at the touch of a button.

Specific challenges that needed to be addressed included covering a wall of windows, adding a separaate zone for air conditioning and incorporating a fully functional bar for the room. In addition, it was important to the homeowner that all of the equipment be positioned outside the room in order to maximize space and design. A separate equipment closet was designed just outside the theatre door. With the equipment positioned in the hallway, total control of all of the equipment and ease of use was essential to the client. This was accomplished by incorporating a Crestron STX1700C Remote Touch Screen.

The project was truly unique as the clients requested that the existing ceiling cove lights and existing collar ceiling beams be preserved with the finished project. This required very intenstive design coordination and several different project 3-D color renderings prior to final approval. This dedicated media room was very distinctive due to the nature of all of the details required by the homeowner - from finishing the walls to cover the wall of windows to maintaining the integrity of the existing ceiling while, at the same time, not altering the comfortable flow of the home.
